Choosing a domain name is the single most important thing you can do for your website. It should not only reflect who you are but be short and easy to remember. The easiest thing to do if at all possible is name your website after your business (aka: BrokenARanch.com is my ranch site) or your stallion.
But it is not always just that easy. Millions of domain names are already taken and your business name might just be one of them, so you need to be creative sometimes. You can always try and get it in .net,.org or a few others, but my opinion is that you should aim for the .com being the most popular and best to show up on search engines.
